However, the following was found on DG36/6 Fiche 2.
Baptism 1805.
William Himan, eldest son of John Himan of Welby in this parish, son of Thos Himan of Walton.
L Labourer, by Catherine his wife daughter of James Durrance of Burton Lazars in this parish.
Born 21st Jan 1805, Baptised 11th Feb 1805.
James Himan of Welby in this parish, Batchelor & Mary Durrance of Burton Lazars in this parish.
Married by Banns 26th November 1810 by Tho Ford Vicar.
Both signed by their X in the presence of Charles Smith & Robert Johnson.
Charles Smith also signed as witness for another marriage on that day so may have been the Curate.
None of the family of Bride or Groom seems to have been witnesses.
Also other marriages at that time declared the brides as Spinsters or Widows but not Mary Durrance.
Was this because she already had a child and therefore not considered to be a Spinster.
James Himan and John Himan could be brothers as both are from Welby. Mary and Catherine could also be cousin and again they are both from Burton Lazars. Could the marriage have been arrange because Mary was the unmarried mother of Edward Durrance.
